Welcome to the World of Heroes! This site is dedicated to telling the stories of the new superheroes of Astoria, Oregon – a thriving NW metropolis at the mouth of the Columbia River. Set on an alternate-reality Earth where all the usual tropes of superhero comics (and movies) are just the facts of life, Astoria is about to become a new center of superhumanity. This website and blog is dedicated to telling the stories of a new generation of superheroes in thrilling 4-color prose.
This is, of course, a role-playing game, and the stories we will be telling are a shared creation of the players and the Gamemaster. We’re using the Mutants & Masterminds gaming system, and the Fantasy Grounds software that allows friends on both coasts to play together in this virtual world of heroes and villains. These pages will tell our tales to astonish as we build our own super heroic legacy… at least in our own imaginations.
If you want to follow along with our adventures, the best way to start is in the sidebar at left, with the “Secret Origins” page – this contains the backstories of our main characters, and each origin ends on the same day, just before our campaign begins. From there check out the “Tales to Amaze” page – this contains the narrative of each adventure, as well as some stuff that happens between adventures, starting with the Astoria Incident. Other pages contain background information on the World of Heroes (the Gazeteer), a timeline (History) and an alphabetical Index of people, places and things important to the story. Finally, “The Scrapbook” contains newspaper clippings, TV news reports and various blog entries that give a street-eye view of some of our heroes’ exploits… just for fun (and the occasional clue).
Enjoy!
